Irish Culture
Ireland has some cultural differences that you should be aware of to keep from making a fool of yourself and insulting the Locals. Below are some do's and don'ts.
__________________________________________
Do's and Don'ts
Don’t call an Irish man or woman, British or English
Don’t attempt to imitate an Irish accent
Don't bring up that you are Irish if someone asks say you have some Irish blood
Don't Endlessly Compare to the States or other countries
Don’t tip in a pub (see tipping later)
Don't ask about Leprechauns
Don’t Order an “Irish Car Bomb” or a Black and Tan
Don't smoke in Pubs
Don't Complain about the weather
Don't greet people with “Top of the morning”
Don't go to Temple bar at night find a small pub to enjoy yourself
Look to the Right when crossing the road
Always pay for Your Round when with friends
At he end of the evening buy a beer for the bartender if good service is provided
Don’t expect table service and a bill in the pub, you pay for your drinks, that you order at the bar, one at a time when you order. Pubs with food expect you to go to the bar, grab a menu, when you are ready you go up to the bar, tell them your table number and order.
Pubs close by 11:30 pm - 1:00 am
Irish people surprisingly are open to talking about the controversial topics of the day like abortion rights or the political situation in Northern Ireland but be courteous, and don't bring up your politics since until you know their particular stance
Slow down and relax
